I’m not a Madridista, but I know that there is no team better than Real Madrid. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Real Madrid is the heritage of club soccer. Being the most successful team in European competitions, they’ve won this competition a record 15 times.

Other than this, Real Madrid has also lifted the La Liga trophy 36 times. Besides winning these major competitions, Los Blancos’ trophy cabinet also includes several Spanish domestic cups.

Having said that, there are a few more reasons that make Real Madrid the best soccer club in the world. And, in this article, I’ll explain those reasons that force someone like me, who doesn’t even support this team, to consider them as the most successful club.

So, let’s get started!

Frequently Signing the Galacticos

Real Madrid has a long history of signing players that every soccer club wanted. From signing Figo from their arch-rivals, Barcelona, to bringing David Beckham, it was Florentino Perez, Real’s president, who started it all.

Several years later, Perez again signed Kaka and Benzema, two prolific strikers of their time. However, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who stole the limelight. Back then, Cristiano became Real Madrid’s answer to Barca’s Lionel Messi.

As of now, Perez is once again on a roll to find the most talented players and bring them to Santiago Bernabeu. Till now, he has signed Mbappe, Endrick, Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr.

However, the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold fascinates me the most. Trent thoroughly polished his skills at Liverpool, and it’ll be his first full season with Los Blancos.

And to ensure that I watch Trent plays on the Spanish soil, I’ve already made the necessary arrangements by bundling my internet with cable TV. I use Optimum Internet, and if you’re planning to watch La Liga, you can dial the Optimum customer service number to get their TV bundle.

This way, I can seamlessly watch Real Madrid on ESPN+, and importantly, Trent playing alongside the likes of Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude.

So, while other European clubs miserably fail to sign their targets, Real Madrid somehow always attracts the best talent from all over the world.

The Bloodlust Rivalry Against Barcelona

One of the major reasons why I believe that Real Madrid has become the most successful club is this rivalry. The roots of this rivalry go way back in time. Barcelona is the capital of the Catalonia region. On the other hand, Madrid is the largest city in Spain.

So, when the Catalans started their fight for freedom against Spanish rule, Barcelona became a symbol of resistance. However, Catalonia’s struggle for freedom died a slow death. But they haven’t forgotten the sacrifices of their forefathers, and it is seen whenever Barca plays against Real Madrid.

On the flipside, Real Madrid has always been a self-sufficient and wealthy soccer club. They were always favored under the Franco rule. And, it was the same time when Madrid won five consecutive European trophies.

Having said that, the official head-to-head record of Real Madrid vs. Barcelona has been a close one. Till now, Madrid has won 105 matches, and Barcelona has managed to outclass this worthy opponent 103 times.

The European and Domestic Legacy

It’s a fact that in this century, Barcelona has outclassed Real Madrid in La Liga. They’ve lifted this trophy more times in this century. But, overall, they’re still pretty far away from matching Real Madrid’s glory in this competition.

As I mentioned, Real Madrid has won La Liga 36 times. And behind them is Barcelona with 28 titles. So, even if Barcelona wins La Liga straight in the next six years, they’ll only be able to match Real Madrid’s number.

As a soccer fan, I’d say it is pure dominance because we all know that with 30+ matchdays, it’s difficult for any team to stay consistent. And, with Real Madrid winning 36 league titles, it absolutely blows my mind how consistent they were in the 90s.

Coming to the European chapter, I’ve already mentioned how Real Madrid has dominated this competition. And, even if we minus five championships that were allegedly rigged by Real during the Franco era, they’ll still have more European trophies than any other team.

Besides this, they’ve also won nine FIFA Club World Cups, 6 European Super Cups, and two UEFA Cups. Also, Real Madrid has won “The Best Club of the 20th Century FIFA Trophy” for their unimaginable successes in the soccer world.

So, all in all, Real Madrid is the benchmark of perfection and consistency in club soccer. And, while I don’t really support them, except when they’re playing against English clubs, I believe in their supremacy in club soccer.

For all that they have achieved, and for all the unbelievable comebacks in crunch moments, Real Madrid is truly the “King of Europe and Spain.”
